Wrestling is a fairly new sport at PHS, but despite that, the wrestling teams do extremely well. In fact, this year, three of the varsity wrestlers made it to the state tournament. Scott Johnson, Jason Bennett, and Lucas Burger all qualified for state, although Lucus was the sole player to advance to the championship round. Lucas wrestled against a Huntsville player and ran out of time in the final match, coming up short by one point. However, making it to the state match was a major accomplishment in itself, and the Panthers wrestled in front of a packed house at the new Pelham Civic Complex.
